The conception of musical performance as a singular and immersive shared experience lies at the heart of Violaine Despeyroux's artistic approach. A French violist trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, she stands out on stage through an intense presence where precision of gesture and expressive energy combine with extraordinary force.
This passion and rigour have led her to perform in prestigious European and international venues, including the Philharmonie de Paris, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Seiji Ozawa Hall in the United States, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, and the Grand Théâtre de Provence. She regularly shares the stage with renowned artists such as Renaud Capuçon, Alexandre Kantorow, and the Modigliani Quartet.

Backtrack
“ Violaine Despeyroux’s viola [...] surely holds the monopoly of the heart: Dvořák’s, needless to say, but the listener’s too. One is infinitely moved by the frowns, the misty contours of her phrasing, the opiate savour of her playing. She knows how to step back, sometimes to add nothing more than a simple colour — a colour that can alone ‘draw’ a whole world, without recourse to line, as Monet might have done. ”
Le Courrier de l’Ouest
“ It was a magnificent moment. Violaine Despeyroux took to the stage [...] of the Théâtre Saint-Louis, and her performance was simply wonderful. ”
Sud-Ouest
“ The violist Violaine Despeyroux, in her role as a compassionate narrator, led this love story with a welcome density, sustaining the song by turns seductive, by turns heartrending, always profound. ”

A SINGULAR
Unique
(003)
A true extension of her soul, her 1863 Charles Jacquot viola is the companion of her sonic explorations. This instrument from the Lyon school possesses a unique vocal identity, capable of whispering or asserting itself with natural authority.
In Violaine’s hands, it becomes a powerful storytelling tool, offering a rich harmonic range that elevates every emotional nuance. It is in this intimate fusion between the history of French craftsmanship and her modern vision that her signature tone is born at once carnal and spiritual.
